How much power can I give my subs before they blow? (They aren't loud enough....)?

I just recently set up my first system. It consists of a Clarion head unit, a mono kicker 300 watt rms amp at 2 ohms, my RCA's are lightning audio, and my subs are 2 oldschool rockford fosgate 15" subs that are 150 watt rms each with peaks of 300 watts each. The subs are at 4 ohm each and I have them wired down to 2 ohms. Everything is wired correctly, but my only problem is that my system isn't as loud as I want it to be (I think my 15"s can do a little more...). Do I need a bigger amp or will it push to much power and blow the subs? (I was thinking like a 600 watt amp.....possibly a 500 watt....) Can my subs handle the extra power? If so how much? (Guys at school told me to stick a thosand watts on it cas they're 15's) Could it be my RCA's? I can use all the help I can get! Thanks!

Just because it is a 15 doesn't mean it will handle a 1000 watts , if it is rated at 150 watts you had better stay pretty close to that number
(words to live by) - never listen to your buddies about car audio , they will cost you more than anything else in the long run (especially high school friends ), they generally know everything and are very rarely wrong according to them.
good luck.
