Foamie Board Surfboard
first shortboard?

i am looking at the BIC 6'7 shortboard here is a link of what it looks like :

http://www.bicsportsurfboards.com/surfboards/index.php?rangeid=161&prodid=344&bssid=5b1gvdlb2t9c84lgalghmmls21

i am 5'4.5" and weigh 121 lbs, 55kg, i have surfed on a foamie for a while now and i am really good at it, i want to get a shortboard because this foamie i have does not turn good, i am trying to learn technical moves but i cant because it is so thick, fat, long and heavy, it is 7", i can pop up on it pretty easily.
so in the end I would really like to know if this board would be a great first shortboard.

cheers Daniel

Daniel,

I can't think of any reason why you would want to buy a board like that, since you tell us you are already "really good at it." Mass produced 'popouts' made in Chinese factories like the board you pictured are okay to be used as rental boards. They are durable enough to take the beating they get from someone renting a board for a day. Big popouts are also good beginner boards. But they really aren't any good for anything else.

If you really are good, you should be looking to treat yourself to a nice quality surfboard. There are dozens of big name manufacturers (Rusty, Lost, Channel islands) and there are hundred of local shapers, all who make great shortboards of good quality, for a variety of prices. Go to a good local Surf Shop. You can get the right board for your size, the local wave conditions and your budget. Good luck!
