what Steel Tip Dart has the best grip?

i like a dart weighing anywhere from 30-42 i just need a good grip as the only problem i seem to face is the darts slipping out my hand and going off board. im currently using a designa metor 32 which seamed more gripy than they are. thers no places close for me to test darts.

I googled your dart style and didn't get any hits, so I don't know what it looks like.

The weight of the darts could be the cause. The weight you mention is quite heavy.

There are a number of different grips available from smooth to heavily knurled (a cross hatch pattern). I prefer the darts that have rings. I've thrown the 21g Lenny Heard (sp?) originally manufactured by Pacer Darts in Hermossa Beach CA. Pacer later sold the style to Accudart. It's been retired.

The barrel material can be a factor too. Some are brass which is a very soft and heavy metal, some are tungsten/nickle alloy. Tungsten is light but brittle, the nickle tempers the brittleness of the tungsten, but adds more weight...

The size of your hand influences how to select a dart that fits well.

Then there's "loading" or where the weight of the barrel is located. Mine are front loaded...so the barrel near the point is bigger than the barrel near the shaft... Front loaded darts naturally "lift" from the hand at the apex of the toss...if gripped correctly. Even loaded require more active grip (also dependent on the grip pattern...)

If you have a larger hand with thicker skin, you may want to go with a thicker, heavily knurled barrel to increase the comfort and grip.

Likewise the opposite if your hands are smaller and thinner skinned.

I'm not sure anyone "fits" darts anymore. It seems to be a lost craft.
